Dean’s Message from Faculty of Dentistry

As we approach our 20th year, PIDC continues to grow as a forward-looking institution committed to academic excellence, clinical competence and ethical professional development. Since 2006, we have trained nearly 950 dental surgeons who now serve successfully across Malaysia and internationally, including the UK, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Brunei and the Philippines — a testament to the strength of our programme and alumni network.

Our flagship Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) programme offers a strong biomedical foundation followed by intensive clinical training within our fully operational dental centre. Through small cohort mentorship, advanced clinical training and close academic supervision, we ensure our graduates are safe, confident, competent and prepared to be lifelong learners.

A distinctive strength of PIDC is our twinning model, where students benefit from gaining the depth of university-based foundational sciences at MAHSA University and the intensity of focused clinical immersion at PIDC, Penang. This dual-campus experience broadens perspectives while strengthening adaptability and independence.

Located in the vibrant state of Penang, a UNESCO World Heritage destination and thriving medical hub, our students learn within a culturally rich and globally connected environment. The diversity of patients, community outreach exposure and modern healthcare ecosystem provide invaluable real-world clinical experience.

Today, PIDC is expanding beyond dentistry, offering Foundation programmes and new disciplines including Nursing and Business — positioning ourselves as a dynamic, multidisciplinary college for the future.

We promote global mobility through student exchanges, international collaborations and cross-border learning opportunities, giving our students valuable global exposure.

Our hybrid learning ecosystem, supported by our dedicated e-portal, integrates digital resources, case-based learning and continuous assessment — preparing students for modern, technology-enabled healthcare environments.

Beyond academics, students will have the opportunity to enhance their future readiness through leadership and employability pathways such as PRIDE LEAD PRIDE LEAP and PRIDE SKILLS, developing the professional competencies required in today’s evolving world.

We are proud of our alumni, many of whom serve as Dental Surgeons in the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence, academicians in public and private universities locally and overseas, postgraduate trainees in Malaysia and abroad, and full-time practitioners in private practice.
