PIDC at a glance
Penang International Dental College (PIDC) is a private college located in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia. Established in 2006, PIDC has become one of the country’s recognized institutions for dental education, having successfully trained more than 900 dental surgeons who now work across public and private sectors locally and internationally.
PIDC offers a unique Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) programme — a five-year course that combines pre-clinical studies conducted during the first two years at MAHSA University’s Saujana Putra Campus with the final three years of clinical training at PIDC’s own campus. This structure ensures students gain both foundational knowledge and practical, hands-on clinical experience.
In addition to the DDS degree, PIDC also provides Foundation in Science (FIS) and Foundation in Arts (FIA) programmes that support direct entry into its dental degree and help prepare students academically.
Expanding beyond dental education and Foundation programmes, PIDC is also set to introduce Diploma programmes in Business Studies and Nursing, broadening pathways for students who aspire to build meaningful careers in other industry besides dentistry. These upcoming programmes are designed to be practical, industry-relevant, and aligned with current workforce demands, providing students with strong fundamentals and career mobility.
PIDC’s campus includes well-equipped dental labs, multiple polyclinics, oral pathology and prosthetic labs, and modern facilities designed to support a conducive learning environment. The college also operates a dental centre that delivers affordable oral healthcare to the community, including underserved groups.
Through collaborations with international institutions and a strong focus on practical training, PIDC aims to produce competent, socially responsible dental professionals ready to serve in diverse healthcare settings.
